Educational Qualification
A Bachelor’s Degree in any stream from a recognized university in India is the qualification for UPPSC PCS 2026. There is no stream restriction at the Pre stage.

Prelims Exam Pattern
The Preliminary Examination has two compulsory objective-type papers on OMR sheets, each of 200 marks and two hours. Paper I (General Studies-I) has 150 questions and runs from 9:30 to 11:30 AM; Paper II (General Studies-II/CSAT) has 100 questions and runs from 2:30 to 4:30 PM. Paper II is qualifying with minimum 33% marks, appearing in both papers is compulsory, and merit is decided only on Paper I marks.
Mains Exam Pattern
The Main written examination has eight compulsory conventional papers: General Hindi (150 marks), Essay (150 marks) and General Studies Papers I to VI (200 marks each), with three hours for each paper. The Essay paper has three sections, with one essay of 700 words to be written from each. The Interview (Personality Test) carries 100 marks.
