Exam Day Instructions
- Answer all questions in English, except where otherwise indicated in the syllabus
- Bring your own pencil/pen and ink; do not carry notes, loose sheets or other articles into the examination hall
- Carry an original and valid photo identity document; identity proof shown as an image on a mobile phone is not permitted
- No candidate without original and valid photo identity will be allowed to enter the examination centre
- Use only a blue/black ball point pen and darken only one oval per question on the OMR sheet
- Answer once marked cannot be changed; use of eraser or white fluid leads to negative marking
- Do not make stray marks or do rough work on the OMR Answer Sheet
- Candidates are not allowed to carry the OMR Answer Sheet after the examination

Preliminary Exam Pattern and Marking
The Preliminary Examination has one objective type paper of 150 questions carrying 150 marks, with each question worth one mark. The duration is 2 hours. There is 25% negative marking (0.25 marks) for each wrong answer. Candidates must use only a blue/black ball point pen to darken one oval per question on the OMR sheet. Answers once marked cannot be changed, and any change using eraser or white fluid attracts negative marking. Candidates cannot carry the OMR Answer Sheet with them after the exam.
Scribe and Compensatory Time for PwD Candidates
PwD candidates with benchmark disabilities (40% or more) who have a limitation in writing may opt for a scribe (provided by Delhi High Court or their own) and/or compensatory time of 20 minutes per hour of examination. Required certificates (Annexure A or C) and a notarized affidavit (Annexure B) on a Rs.10 non-judicial stamp paper must be submitted to the Joint Registrar [Examination (Judicial)] at least three days before the examination, failing which the facility will not be allowed.
