The Department for Women Development & Child Welfare, Telangana has begun filling Anganwadi Teacher and Anganwadi Helper posts across districts, district by district. In the first phase, AWT posts are being taken up in all areas, while AWH posts are opening only in Tribal areas.
Notifications go live one district at a time on the mis.tgwdcw.in portal. Most districts still show Not Opened, so candidates should track their own district’s status page for the start and closing dates.

Educational Qualification
The minimum qualification for both AWT and AWH is Intermediate / 12th Standard. For the Anganwadi Helper post only, if no Intermediate-qualified candidate is available, a candidate with the next lower qualification (SSC) can be considered.
The applicant must be a local woman resident of the ward (urban area) or Gram Panchayat (rural area) where the Anganwadi Centre is located. Age must be between 18 and 35 years as per Saksham Anganwadi & Poshan 2.0 guidelines. Posts earmarked for ST or SC habitations under the SC/ST Sub Plan are reserved for candidates from the same hamlet or Gram Panchayat.

Reservation and Roster
Reservation follows the 100-point roster cycle under Rule 22 of the Telangana State & Subordinate Service Rules 1996, with the ICDS Project as the unit. Roster points continue after the last roster point from the previous recruitment. Up to 50% of Anganwadi Teacher posts are filled by promotion of Anganwadi Helpers with 5 years of experience, subject to eligibility.

Telangana Anganwadi Recruitment 2026 FAQs
The candidate must be between 18 and 35 years of age for both the Anganwadi Teacher and Anganwadi Helper posts, as per Saksham Anganwadi & Poshan 2.0 guidelines.
Intermediate or 12th Standard is the minimum qualification for both posts. For the Anganwadi Helper post, if no Intermediate candidate is available, a candidate with SSC qualification can be considered.
The last date differs by district. For Peddapally the closing date is 6 July 2026 and for Mahabubnagar it is 30 June 2026. Other districts publish their own dates when their notification opens.
Only a local woman who is a resident of the ward (urban) or Gram Panchayat (rural) where the Anganwadi Centre is located can apply. Posts reserved for ST or SC habitations are open only to candidates from the same hamlet or Gram Panchayat.
Selection is by the District Level Selection Committee on a 100-mark weightage: 70 for Intermediate marks, 10 for orphan status, 5 for widow, 5 for differently abled, and 10 for the interview.
